What music is free to download?

All music that is in the public domain and music under copyright made available to the public by the copyright owner.

Why should I register?

Registering removes all water-makrs and allow access to additional features:

  • Store your personal music online for quick reference.
  • Download your library to your computer/ music reader.
  • Share music
  • Contribute to the online library by uploading music.
  • Please be generous. If you have something we are missing, upload and share it.
  • Purchase music for sale by other members (coming feature)
  • Upload music you own to sell etc. (coming feature)
  • Registering helps us monitor and maintain the website

Do you share our e-mail or other information with associates?

No! Your information is used internally only. We do not share with associates or distribute personal information.

Why are there 2 search boxes?

Composer Box: Enter the name of the composer in this box.
Composition Box: Enter the name of the work you are searching for.

If you do not know the name of a composer you may search the composition box. If you know the composer and not the name of the work entering a composer name only will give you a listing of all that composers works.

What is the Major Composers and Composers?

Major Composers is a listings of main stream composers whose music is most commonly performed. Composers is a list of all public domain composers and their music, including Master Composers.

What is the School Music Directory?

Music designed for classroom use. Includes simplified arrangements, works written for level 1,2,3, and 4 band/strings/orchestra, selected works appropriate for students, methods and teaching materials including scales and etudes.

Teachers are encouraged to share materials they have written with other educators.

What is the Repertoire list?

It is a hand generated list of suggested music for various venues. ie. Violin, String Orchestra, Trombone etc. This list does not contain all music in the library, just suggested music.

Where is Sheet Music International Hosted?

Sheet Music International is hosted in Canada with servers located in the US and Canada. New servers will be added to meet local needs for language, national copyright restrictions, and to provide greater bandwith as needed.

I lost my Password. How do I obtain access?

Don't lose it!! Choose something you can remember. We can send out a password reset to the e-mail you have on file, but if you have changed your e-mail and did not update your account with us, we wouldn't have any way to send you a temporary password.
