Sheet Music of Kreisler Fritz

Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962)

Sheet Music and Program Notes

Fritz Kreisler was an Austrian violinist and composer.  He was a virtuoso violinist and well know as a concert artist in his lifetime. After auditioning for the Vienna Philharmonic and being turned down, he quit music and went into medicine.

In 1910 as a violinist he premiered Edward Elgar's Violin Concert.  After world war II he became a citizen of the united states.  Some of his more famous works are Liebesfreud, Liebesleid, Preludium and Allegro in the style of Paganini.  The cadenza he wrote for the Beethoven Violin concerto is the most popular.

Rather than admit he wrote many of the encores he performed, he told his audiences that he found a stash of unknown manuscripts by Baroque composers in a French monastery.
